One Quiet Piece is the creative home of Cindy Yan — also known by the Chinese name Yan Lanxin — gathering paintings, paper art, textiles, and small handmade objects made slowly, one at a time.
Painting, knitting, folding paper, and making small objects are not only about the finished piece. They are about spending time with materials: a brushstroke, a fold, a line of yarn, a paper texture, or a small detail that changes as it is handled.
Making is quiet work. The value is in the hour spent, as much as the object left behind.
This site is meant to hold finished work, process projects, studio notes, and small reflections. It can grow slowly, one quiet piece at a time — a cover image here, a gallery there, a few words about how something came to be.
