Path to the September Sky

This painting began with the feeling of wanting to catch a small season before it moved on. It was nearly my dad’s birthday, and we wanted to go see the autumn trees one last time before their colour disappeared.

The path became a way to hold that moment a little longer: the gold of the leaves, the open blue of the sky, and the quiet sense of walking toward something tender and familiar.

The scene is simple, but it carries the warmth of a day chosen carefully. It remembers the kind of walk that feels ordinary while it is happening, then becomes precious because the season changed so quickly after.
