This was my very first colored pencil artwork. At the time, I was not sure what I should draw, or even what I could draw with colored pencils. Then I saw my mom eating a peach, and the answer suddenly felt simple: that would be the subject of my first drawing.
I grabbed another peach from our fridge, set it on the table, and used my table lamp to create a stronger shadow. That small setup helped me slow down and really look at the peach: the round shape, the soft orange and rose tones, and the way the light made one side feel warm while the other side settled into shade.
It is not the world’s prettiest drawing, but it is honest. It reminds me of the moment I began learning how colored pencil could build shape, warmth, and shadow from something ordinary at home. For that reason, this piece feels special to me as a beginning, a small first step into a new medium.
