This piece began with a small spark from a friend’s miniature version. I liked the idea, but wanted to give it my own rhythm: longer tentacles, more color, and a softer sense of movement.
The yarn gave the form a gentle, handmade texture. I stretched the tentacles further than the original inspiration, letting each strand feel a little more expressive and alive. The colors were chosen to feel more imaginative than realistic, with a playful mix that makes the piece feel bright without losing its quietness.
It took about eight hours to make, and it became a small study in how a familiar idea can change when the proportions, palette, and personal choices shift.
